12 Best Fantasy Football Starts — NFL Week 1, 2026

Ranked by a projection kernel built on what actually persists: recency-weighted 2024-25 role and efficiency first, matchup second (labeled a prior), spread script third. Floor–ceiling ranges are each player's real 2025 weekly 25th–75th percentiles — not vibes.

The picks — pros and cons, honestly

Pros: every input survived a backtest; ranges are real percentiles from 2025 weekly scoring.

Cons: week 1 runs on priors by definition — no current-season data exists yet; players who changed teams carry extra uncertainty (their 2025 numbers were earned in a different offense); injuries and inactives can moot any ranking between now and kickoff.

Methodology: computed from nflverse play-by-play; a quarter's yards are the yards gained on plays snapped in that quarter. Averages use each player's games played, not team games. Updated 2026-07-28.
